Call for Applications: Chairperson & Vice-Chairperson of the MISA Audit
and Risk Committee

The Motor Industry Staff Association (MISA) is a dynamic, registered trade union within the Motor Industry, representing over 75,000 members and proudly upholding a legacy of dedicated service to its members.

MISA invites suitably qualified and experienced members to apply for the part-time positions of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of the Audit and Risk Committee.

In MISA’s commitment to embedding the principles of the King Report on Corporate Governance, these positions are critical in ensuring transparency, accountability and sound governance across MISA’s financial, risk management and compliance functions.

About the Audit and Risk Committee
Operating independently and in a non-executive capacity, the Committee advises the MISA National Executive Council (NEC), Presidential Committee and management on:

• Internal and external audit oversight
• Risk management policy and monitoring
• Compliance with laws, regulations and ethics
• Integrated reporting and combined assurance
• Financial reporting integrity and governance

Role of Chairperson & Vice-Chairperson

The Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson will:
• Lead the Audit and Risk Committee in fulfilling its mandate under the Labour Relations Act, MISA Constitution, By-laws and relevant Policies.
• Provide strategic guidance on financial, risk and governance matters.
• Ensure effective oversight of internal and external audit functions.
• Report findings and recommendations to the MISA NEC and Presidential Committee.

Eligibility & Requirements
Applicants must:
• Have at least 3 years of continuous active membership and not serving on the MISA Regional Exco’s, Women’s Forum or -Young Workers’ Forum.
• Hold a minimum NQF7 financial qualification.
• Possess strong business, financial and leadership skills.
• Demonstrate knowledge of corporate governance, risk management and audit practices.
• One of the two positions (Chair or Vice-Chairperson) must be filled by a female member.

Term of Office
• Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson: 3 years per term, maximum of 3 terms.
• Attending 3 meetings per annum, to be held on Saturdays.
